Seminars on sustainable land use in Panama
In the educational garden of lo tuyo, sustainable land use can be actively lived: during our seminars we consult fruit and vegetable farmers from the region, in particular, farmers from the indigenous Ngöbe-Bugle communities who will get the opportunity to grow cultivated varieties which have become rare, learn to fight pests organically, and learn to prevent erosion. Here the participants, men and women, will be taught by our well experienced organic farmers Hojier or Achim. Existing knowledge and experiences of the participants will be discussed and included in the seminar.
High demand
The workshop has already been promoted and Interest in it already is great. With our environmental education center, the educational garden and the experimental kitchen, our infrastructure is set. Participation at the seminars should be free and we will try to finance the participants through sponsorships. Costs are incurred for transport (many of the farmers live in the mountains, a day trip away from Las Lajas), housing and meals on lo tuyo, and tools and materials.
Sponsorship
With $60 you can make it possible for a small farmer to participate in a 'lo tuyo' seminar. You will receive a certificate from us for yourself or the person you want to give the sponsorship to as a gift. After the seminars in the first quarter of the year of 2014, you will receive photo documentation for you to see what we did. The name of the sponsor, if agreed, will appear in the annual report.
How can I become a sponsor?
Please click on the button "donate now“ and fill out the form. We would be happy to receive a donation of $60 for a sponsorship. The transaction will be made through the online donation platform betterplace.org, which will immediately send you an acknowledgement of receipt. For you to be able to receive a personal 'lo tuyo' certificate we need your mailing address. Please click the "yes, 'lo tuyo' may inform me...“ button under "further information from the organisation?“ in the window that opens after you have made the donation. How can I give the sponsorship away as a gift?
Fill out the form as described above. After we have received your donation, you will receive an e-mail with another form, in which you can let us know the name of the recipient, as well as their address and a personal message to be put on the certificate if desired.
